A scar is a mark left on the skin or on an internal organ by the healing of a wound, sore, surgery or injury because of replacement by connective tissue of the injured tissue. Scars may result from wounds that have healed, lesions of disease, accidents or surgical operations. Often a scar carries with it the memory of trauma, fear and pain. This memory can be of physical pain and/or the emotional fear or trauma. The cellular memory of the trauma can block the flow of healing energy within the body and mind. Discomfort and problems may result from the incomplete healing process. When a scar has been released there is no restriction of flow of energy, blood circulation and lymph drainage. The body can then complete the healing process. Treatment of Scars
Scar tissue therapy is generally overlooked by health professionals because the extent of physiological effects scars can have on the body have never really been acknowledged.
The slightest restriction in the elaborate matrix of fascia can have major repercussions from one end of the body to the other. A simple scar from a childhood accident to major surgery can have a lifelong effect both physically and mentally. Scar tissue has the potential to spread in any direction including internally throughout the body. It can also restrict movement or function anywhere in the body from a joint to an organ. Fortunately, releasing scars yields powerful results that can prevent a lifetime of compensation, complications and pain.
Long Term Effects of Scars

Benefits of Scar Tissue Release Therapy
For new scars, we ask that you obtain your surgeon's consent for scar tissue release. In any case we do not treat scars that are less than 12 weeks old, and in the case of deeper scars or abdominal / visceral scars we wait much longer.
On the other hand, scars will still respond to releasing treatment decades after they have been inflicted! Scars due to caesarean section which are twenty or thirty years old can be treated with great success, as well as internal abdominal adhesions, relieving symptoms several years after they first appeared. Equally, burns and scarring from childhood have been successfully released with accompanying beneficial results several decades on. Please do not hesitate to enquire about treatment, however old the scar is.
Combination of ETPS Microcurrent (Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation) and Bowen Therapy are a quick and effective treatment modalities used for patients with any type of musculoskeletal pain including, but not limited to: plantar fasciitis, neuromas, foot pain, TMJ, trigger finger, tennis elbow, any joint immobility/pain, arthritic pain, neck or other spine-related pain, post-operative pain, myofascial tightness and many other painful conditions including scar tissue and adhesions. Patients usually see immediate improvement in range of motion as well as a reduction in pain.
Scar Tissue release in ETPS is also cosmetically enhancing - a very fine side effect! "Bumps","ridges" and "valleys" of even very old scars are evened out so that the appearance of scarring is greatly reduced, often with only a very fine line remaining. Consider trying ETPS before undergoing further surgery to "correct" scar tissue appearance which can sometimes result in even more scar tissue!
Specific protocols in ETPS for Scar Release and to treat internal Adhesions. These are extremely gentle and involve releasing the fascia where appropriate. A more or less intense prickling may be felt where scar tissue is releasing. There is usually significant difference both in the feeling around the scarring and in its appearance after the first session.
In normal circumstances between 4 and 6 55 minute treatments are required for the myofascial release of scar tissue.
